Year 2

Welcome to Year 2.

Here you will find all of the details about our year group that you will need to know, including your child's topics, class trips and class based activities.

In Year 2, we provide a safe and positive learning environment where children are all valued and treated as individuals, giving them the confidence to thrive and achieve their full potential.

There are two parallel classes in Year 2:

Team Forgiveness and Team Consideration

Team Forgiveness are taught by Mrs. Nicholls and

Team Consideration are taught by Mrs. Waugh.

Our Teaching Assistants are Mrs. Lanksford, Mrs. Watts, Miss Cane and Mrs. Gill.

On a Wednesday we are also taught by Mrs. Golding and Mrs. Abdullah.

P.E. is taught on a Wednesday and Friday afternoon.  Your children should keep their P.E. kit in school all week and it should comprise of:

A house colour t-shirt, blue or black shorts, blue or black jogging bottoms, a zip up jumper and trainers/plimsoles.  Please ensure that all items are named as this makes it easier to return items if they are mislaid.

Spellings will be sent home every Monday and will be due in the following Monday. This will consist of 10 spellings, practising Year 2 common exception words as well as their phonetic practise.

Reading takes place daily in year 2 through Guided Reading and individual reading.  Please ensure your child brings their class reading book and record to school each day so that a record of their reading can be kept.  We would like you to read with your child at least 3 times a week and record any comments in your child's Reading Record Book. When reading with your child, please try to ask them questions about the title of the book, the pictures and what they have read to check their comprehension. Books are changed on a Monday and Thursday with library books also being sent home on a Thursday.
