P.E.
P.E. is taught twice a week on Mondays (outdoor PE) and Tuesdays (indoor PE). Your children should come into school that day wearing their PE kit:
- A House colour T-shirt
- Black shorts or black jogging bottoms
- School jumper
- Black jumper or hoodie can be brought in to wear outside as an extra layer on colder days
- Trainers that can be worn outside
Please ensure that all items are named as this makes it easier to return items if they are mislaid. There should be no large logos or obvious brands on PE clothing.
Forest School
At some points during the year, your child will engage in Forest School. When your child is participating in Forest School, they will need:
- A warm jumper
- A waterproof coat
- Long trousers
- Wellies
- Warm socks
More information will be sent regarding the dates in which your child will be taking part in Forest School.
Reading
Reading is fundamental to all children's education. In Key Stage 1, we will be focusing on a range of key skills including information retrieval, asking and answering questions, drawing inferences, predicting what might happen next, word meaning and comparisons within and across texts. We strive to promote a passion for reading in children which supports their progress.
In addition to the reading that your child will engage with at school, they are expected to read at home at least four times a week and should record their reflection in their reading record. It is important that you engage in discussions with their reading and listen to them read on a regular basis.
Your child is responsible for changing their own book once they have completed it. Please can you work with us to encourage your child to choose books from a variety of genres and authors.
