Week ending 17 th October 2025
This week, the children in year 5 have had an amazing week of concluding their learning across different topics we have explored this term. They have created some amazing leaflets about Antarctic animals, using the internet to research facts and Microsoft publisher to publish their writing! We have had a creative last week of term, creating colourful prints of the 'memory drawings' we have been working on in Art and recapping all of our knowledge in Geography by creating posters about California. We are all looking forward to a well-deserved break and more new and exciting learning after half term! Please note: The children do not have to complete every question given for maths homework, it is purely an opportunity to practice their addition and subtraction skills over the half term.
Week ending 10th October 2025
We started the week with a wonderful church service all about Harvest, where the children in year 5 performed their 'Harvest Rock and Roll' song beautifully. The children have been learning more about the Anglo-Saxons in history this week and have been developing their memory sketches in art, which we will produce prints of next week. We have come to the end of some of our topics, such as addition and subtraction in maths and our book, 'Shackleton's Journey' in English. To conclude, the children have been writing some amazing informal letters from the perspectives of characters on the Endurance. We have also had the wonderful treat of watching the Talent show this Friday!

The children visited their buddies again this week and have been setting a great example for the Squirrels and Badgers. 5H flourished in their first Forest School session of the year, where they created a cafe, went to war (not a real one, of course) and also learnt how to use a palm drill and key drill to make log medallions for the winners! Week ending 5th September 2025
The children in Year 5 have settled in beautifully this week, making new friends and enjoying time with their new teachers. We have learnt so much about each other and have learnt how to be amazing role models for the rest of the school, getting back into our routines and creating class charters so that our classrooms are a fun and safe space to learn. On Friday, the children in both Year 3 and 5 had a magnificent day at Carroty Wood full of adventurous team-building activities such as field games, low ropes, orienteering and toasted marshmallows with camp fire songs with Mrs Kyte. All the children had an 'epic' day with their new classes, making lots of memories and friends. We are looking forwards to next week's rugby session on Monday and another great week of learning and starting new topics.
