Bishop Chavasse PE Intent Statement
Our PE curriculum offers a well structured and sequenced curriculum that is inclusive for all children and provides them with the opportunities to develop the components and skills for a variety of sports. Our PE curriculum enables our children to develop strategies that support their physical health and well-being.
Curriculum Physical Education
P.E. is taught for two hours each week. Within these sessions, skills are taught and practiced before being applied in game situations. We offer a progressive curriculum in which children are given time to explore and practice the skills, revisiting them again in other year groups. It is our vision and aim for every pupil to achieve their full potential in sport as well as to lead physically active lifestyles. We strive to inspire our pupils to be physically active everyday and develop their level of skills and confidence in a range of sports.
Swimming
Swimming is an important life skill and it is vital to ensure children are safe and confident in and around the water. We are fortunate to be able to have access to Somerhill Independent School and their swimming facilities. At this current time, we offer swimming lessons to Year 4. We will have further opportunities for the children to swim in Year 6, to ensure they leave primary school being able to swim at least 25m.
